Carlos Miranda

Carlos MirandaCarlos Alberto Miranda holds an M.A. in Business Administration from IBMEC –RJ, and a B.A. in Architecture and Urban Planning. He also received an MBA in Finance from IBMEC-RJ (where he wrote his dissertation on “Competencies of the Entrepreneur at an Organization under Development”). Miranda participated in the Management and Strategy for Executives Program at the Kellogg Business School of Management at Northwestern University, Chicago.

He worked at Ernst & Young for 21 years, always in the areas of Corporate Finance and Management and Strategy Consulting. Miranda was an associate of the company in the Transaction Advisory Services department from 1998 to 2010, having served there as Managing Partner for Brazil for four years, and as a member of the Advisory Board for South America from 2007 to 2010.

From 2006 to 2010, he was also responsible for the Strategic Growth Markets department in South America, geared to assisting fast-growing organizations in their transformation into market leaders. In addition to leading the teams responsible for Management Advisory Services, M&A, IPOs and Private Equity funds, Miranda also implemented the “Entrepreneurship in Chile and Colombia” programs, which he coordinated from 2006 to 2010. During these years, he assisted companies from different segments (both public and private) with their growth strategies, taking part in a variety of business feasibility, mergers and acquisitions, strategic consulting, IPO, company assessment and business integration processes.

As BR Opportunities’ founder, Carlos leads the General Partner team in the analysis and investment decisions, as well as actively participates in the investee companies as a counselor, helping with your previous experiences and networking.

Carlos was Elected by HSM as one among the 100 leaders who are changing business in Brazil and, in addition, is a member of the following committees:

Miranda is the author of a number of papers, articles and lectures on strategy, corporate finance and entrepreneurial development, and co-author of the book Empresas Familiares Brasileiras (“Brazilian Family-Controlled Companies”), edited by Prof. Ives Gandra Martins.
